What's Included

  • Front Calipers: Brembo 4 piston "Monobloc" (one piece) racing calipersF14-stage_II_calipers_med

    • The calipers are Brembo “Monobloc” 4-piston fixed assemblies.  These calipers are actually machined from a single block of aluminum, unlike most calipers that are machined from two halves and bolted together.  Although more expensive to manufacture, this design results in increased stiffness and reduced weight over the conventional two-piece 4-piston caliper design.  The piston diameters are staggered to avoid tapered pad wear, therefore providing consistent pedal travel even under the most severe track conditions.

  • Front Rotors: 355mm (14.0") dia (track proven 2007 - 2008 Shelby GT500)
    • The rotors are the huge 355mm (14”) x 32mm O. E. Brembo discs from the thoroughly proven Shelby GT500.  They are the actual Brembo discs made in Italy, not aftermarket replacement units.  They feature the patented Brembo “Swan Neck” hat design that allows for uniform expansion of the disc as it heats up, and the classic Brembo non-directional “Pillar” vane design provides maximum cooling and heat dissipation.  The best part, these discs are readily available for easy and affordable service replacement.

  • Brake pads: Ferodo track / street compound
    • The kit includes performance Ferodo brake pads, ready for the track.  These beefy pads have a large surface area of 77sq cm compared to the 2000 Cobra-R caliper at only 52 sq cm, and the Brembo aftermarket kits at 62 sq cm.  And of course to keep with the goal of easy and affordable serviceability the pads are readily available, as they are common with 2009/10 Camaro SS, Cadillac CTS-V, Pontiac G8-GXP (GM pad kit 89047725) and the Shelby GT500.

  • Mounting brackets: CNC machined billet steel for high strength, high stiffness  for maximum performance
    • For maximum strength and stiffness our mounting brackets are machined from steel, which are F14-Stage_II_brackets_smallelectroplated black zinc for long term anti-corrosion.  Again, these are not made from aluminum.  While it is more expensive to machine these intricate pieces from steel, stiffness here is critical.  Therefore, ours are steel.

  • Hoses: DOT brake hoses, banjo bolts and copper crush washers
    • Unlike many aftermarket kits, the F14-Stage II utilizes an O. E. style positive stop hose anti-rotation feature to ensure proper hose routing and a securely torqued joint.
    • Why not braided?  They sure look cool, however we prefer the O. E. style hoses for their routing flexibility and proven design.  If you have a favorite braided solution you would like to use, we will keep the hoses and banjos and discount your package by $50.00.
    • FACT: Did you know that the total amount of brake pedal travel at impending skid due to the expansion of the stock front hoses is a whopping total of 0.049 inches!  The O.E. hoses are actually quite stiff.

  • Hardware: Top of the line ARP racing mounting studs and 12pt nuts

  • Detailed tech support web site

Site includes extensive step by step coverage of all aspects of assembly, including plenty of high resolution color photos covering every detail of the conversion.

  • Note: it is not necessary to remove or modify your spindles or re-align the front end for installation.

Wheel Requirements

  • 18" or larger diameter are required
  • Standard offset fitment for your SN95 Mustang (actual offset depend on wheel width chosen)
  • Spoke configuration must be able to clear Brembo 4 piston calipers.  Click here for a printable sweep gauge, so you can confirm clearance to your wheels.  Note:  There is a generous 3mm of clearance built into the gauge, so line to line fitment is OK.    Click here

Track Validated - 50% lower front brake temps....that's 400 degrees lower..!

  • The results are so impressive you may not believe they are legitimate.  We promise, they are.....

    Track Temps 2009-10-25 large

    Results:

Avg STOCK brake temps:                                                                 Front: 876º     Rear: 516º

Avg Cobra R - Brembo temps:                                                        Front: 862º     Rear: 385º

Avg F14-Stage II brake temps:                                                      Front: 475º     Rear: 371º

Temp improvement absolute:                                                         Front: 401º     Rear: 145º

Temp increase improvement in percentage (from ambient):   Front: 49.5%  Rear:  29.8%

Note: Only the front brake hardware was upgraded (calipers/pads/rotors), yet significant performance improvements were also notes in the rear brakes due to the fronts improving so much.

Subjectively, both drivers reported some brake fade after the 6th lap with the stock brakes.  Also, both drivers noted modulation was significantly improved with the F14-Stage II brake set up as compared to the stock Mach I brakes.

    • Procedure:
      • 8 consecutive hot laps at Waterford Hills Road Course (track map here).
      • Rotor temperatures measured immediately at hot pit after 8th lap.
    • Drivers: Two expert drivers, one driver per each brake configuration (to get best average).
    • Car: 04 Mach I – Stock
    • Brakes (baseline): Stock Mach 1 (same as Cobra) 13” rotor w/PBR caliper
    • Brakes (upgrade): Vintage Venom F14-Stage II Big Brake upgrade (Brembo calipers w/ 14” rotors)
    • Wheels: Aftermarket FR500
    • Tires: Hoosier Koni 275/35/18
    • Average lap times: 1:22.95 (+/- 1.0s)
    • Ambient temperature: 78º F

Suggested tire sizing:  On 1999 and up cars 265/40/18  or  275/35/18  tires can be used with no concern for clearance regardless of alignment or ride height.  On 1994-1998 cars depending on alignment settings clearances may be tight.
